We have Head Coach Mike Walker here to discuss how the 2022/23 Team is shaping up and what the expectations are for this season.
How many returning players are there from last seasons team?
We should have the majority of our team returning for this year. The Sailors currently have 7 players signed already. However we are willing to make necessary changes to improve our team for this year.
Last year was pretty successful for the Sailors, What needs to happen for a deep playoff run?
I think we had a great season last year, We had a couple games I wish we had back which might have given us home ice going into the playoffs. I think in order to make a playoff run our team needs to be hitting high gear at the right time, with a total team effort from Forwards, Defense, and goaltending.
If the 2022/23 season were to end tomorrow where do you rank the Sailors in the PJHL Standing?
Great question. Honestly you never know with Junior C hockey. I’d love to tell you 1st and hate to tell you 7th but with this league you never know with what teams are going to bring in until you see rosters and watch the teams play in person. I would be happy with Home Ice going into the playoffs so we will say I see Port Dover finishing in the Top 4 of the Division.
